Mandala Art for Yoga Studios, Spas and Wellness Spaces
When people walk into a yoga studio, a spa or a therapist’s room, they decide in seconds whether they can relax. Light, sound and scent all play a part, and so does what they see on the walls. A single hand-painted mandala can set the tone for the whole space.
Why Mandalas Belong in Wellness Spaces
Mandalas have been used as aids to meditation and focus for centuries. Their structure does something our minds find restful:
- Symmetry and repetition let the eye settle instead of searching.
- A clear centre gives attention somewhere to land, which is useful at the start or end of a class.
- Concentric rings draw the gaze inward, mirroring the inward focus of practice.
There’s also a practical side. A large, original artwork makes a space memorable and photographable. It becomes the backdrop of your Instagram posts, class photos and reviews, and it’s something no competitor can copy.
Choosing the Right Piece
Size
Wellness spaces are usually larger than home rooms, so art needs to be bigger to hold the wall. As a guide:
- Behind a teacher’s mat or a reception desk: 36 inches (91 cm) or more.
- Treatment and therapy rooms: 16–24 inches, at seated or lying-down eye level.
- Corridors and waiting areas: a series of smaller pieces in a related palette.
Our wall art size guide explains the rules of thumb in more detail. To check a size against your actual wall, upload a photo to the wall preview tool and place our 36″ Pritvi on it.
Colour
Match the colour to the experience you offer:
- Restorative yoga, meditation, sleep therapy: blues, teals and soft greens.
- Vinyasa, dance, energising classes: warm terracotta, coral and gold.
- Holistic therapy and counselling: grounding earth tones, as in Pritvi (“Earth”).
- Family wellness or kids’ yoga: joyful multi-colour.
Our mandala colour meanings guide covers the symbolism and chakra associations of each colour family, which many yoga teachers like to tie into their classes. You can also match the palette to your brand colours.
Placement
- Hang the centre of the mandala at eye level for the position people will be in: standing in a lobby, seated in a waiting area, or lying down in a treatment room.
- Give the piece space. A mandala surrounded by clutter loses its calming effect.
- Light it softly from the side or above; spotlights directly in front can create glare on varnish.
Durability in a Busy Space
Business spaces get more wear than homes. Hand-painted mandalas on MDF board or wood, sealed with a protective varnish and hung on sturdy hooks, are practical for studios: they can be dusted with a soft dry cloth and don’t have glass that can break.
How a Commission Works
Every space is different, so business pieces are usually commissioned:
- Share your space. Send a photo of the wall, its measurements, your brand colours and the feeling you want.
- Design direction. We propose a size, palette and style, with a quote.
- Painting. Chaya hand-paints the piece, dot by dot.
- Delivery. The finished mandala is packed with care and shipped, ready to hang.

A Focal Point With Meaning
In a wellness space, every detail communicates care. A hand-painted mandala tells clients that this is a place made with intention, by hand, slowly. That’s exactly the experience they came for.
